John Barrowman wants own Captain Jack and River Song spin-off series

John Barrowman has revealed that he and Alex Kingston would like to star in their own Doctor Who spinoff series.

Barrowman's character Captain Jack Harkness has already notably featured in the spinoff Torchwood, while Kingston's River Song has made multiple Doctor Who appearances.

In an interview with TVAddict, Barrowman revealed that he and Kingston have discussed ideas for Captain Jack and River Song to meet.

"Actually, the first time Alex and I met each other... we didn't even say anything, we just looked at each other and went, 'Aaaaaahhh! My god!'" he recalled.

"We got a glass of champagne and started talking about how it would be great if River and Jack... actually, she said River and Jack should have their own TV show."

Kingston has made appearances in the actor's US series Arrow, and Barrowman revealed that the pair bonded on the set.

Barrowman recently admitted that he is disappointed he will not be reprising the role of Captain Jack in the upcoming 50th anniversary special, but admitted that he understands why the character has been left out of the special.

Kingston will play River Song again in the Series 33 finale - 'The Name of the Doctor'.
